Salary Range:
- Base Salary: From $86,905.00 (Grade 14, Step 1) per annum
- Plus: 12% superannuation
- Total Package: $97,334.00
The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.

The Opportunity
Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our team.
In this role, you will help protect and promote public health through investigations, inspections, enforcement, and education. You’ll respond to issues such as food safety breaches, pollution incidents, and public health complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and supporting proactive health initiatives across the community.

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary Qualifications in Applied Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Natural Resources and/or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Thorough working knowledge of appropriate sections of the Local Government Act 1993, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Food Act 2003, Food Standards Codes, Public Health Act 2010, and other relevant legislation, codes, guidelines and standards.
- Experience in environmental health assessment of development applications technical reports and environmental impact statements.
- Demonstrated computer skills and ability to use commercial databases and information registers, including the ability to adapt to new software systems.
- Experience in investigations, capable of handling complex investigative cases using evidence-based method, ideally within a compliance context.
- Sound organisation and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
- Must hold a current Driver’s Licence.
