We are looking for a strategic leader to step into a high-impact role as Manager, Resilience, Compliance & Commercial, a position at the centre of our mission to build a thriving, future-ready Strathfield. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant. This will include access to a Manager Agreement that includes 10 additional days of special leave.
The successful applicant will also have the option to choose either a vehicle allowance or access to a leaseback vehicle through the Council’s Leaseback Vehicle Program.

The Opportunity
Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Manager, Resilience, Compliance and Commercial to join our senior leadership team.
This pivotal role will oversee the strategic direction and operational delivery of key functions that underpin the safety, sustainability and economic vitality of our community.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of one of Sydney’s most dynamic local government areas.
As the Manager, Resilience, Compliance and Commercial you will drive innovation across compliance, health and regulatory services, resilience strategy, sustainability programs, and commercial activation projects including town centre revitalisation and economic development.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, manage key stakeholder relationships, and deliver measurable outcomes aligned with Council’s vision and values. This role demands a balance of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and strong leadership – ideal for someone ready to make a meaningful and lasting impact in local government.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Planning or other related field, in addition to relevant experience in a similar role.
- Previous management-level or senior-level experience.
- Demonstrate a proven record of senior management leadership in decision-making, leading and guiding teams to achieve the objectives and targets.
- Significant experience in and demonstrated ability to plan, lead and manage resources, work and projects across multiple areas.
- Experience in managing significant revenue generating functions across the business unit.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic policy development across a range of fields.
- Demonstrated political acumen.
- Demonstrated understanding of environmental legislation relevant to local government.
- Ability to prepare informative technical reports for the Director on investigations of environmental, public and community health issues.
- Substantial knowledge and skills in monitoring and understanding trends in environmental health service provision and programs consistent with community needs.
- Demonstrated high-level application of analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional influencing, negotiation, consultation, and communication skills.
- Extensive experience in financial management and budget development and control to ensure cost-effective delivery and maintenance of services.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated commitment to provide high quality customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of applicable statutes, Council codes, Australian Standards and be capable of assessing plans and specifications submitted to Council.
- Current NSW ‘C’ Class Driver Licence
