Lead the delivery of diverse electrical projects from planning through to completion, providing expert advice while ensuring every project meets strict safety, compliance, budget and timeline standards. Help shape the future of Parks and Active Communities by maintaining, installing and elevating the technical performance of all electrical assets for maximum safety, efficiency and sustainability.

About the role:

  • Combines project management, technical input, and hands‑on electrical work to support safe, compliant, and operational infrastructure while contributing to project delivery, asset maintenance, and electrical response management.
  • Oversees the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of electrical assets across parks and open spaces, including sports lighting, amenities supplies, distribution boards, control systems, power outlets, and underground cabling.
  • Supports capital works and renewal projects by developing scopes, managing procurement and contracts, supervising worksites, and ensuring electrical infrastructure aligns with asset management strategies and operational needs.
  • Conducts condition assessments, provides expert lifecycle advice, and acts as a first responder to electrical faults, coordinating follow‑up maintenance and contributing to continuous improvement of Council’s Asset Management System.
  • Collaborates closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer and internal/external stakeholders, overseeing preventative maintenance programs, supervising staff and contractors as required, providing after‑hours support, and ensuring accurate asset and records management.

We are seeking:

  • A qualified Electrician holding a Class A Electrical Licence and NSW Electrical Contractor Licence, along with a current White Card.
  • Someone experienced in supervising multidisciplinary projects and managing trades teams or contractors delivering electrical works.
  • Strong capability in interpreting engineering drawings, contract documents, and preparing Work‑as‑Executed drawings and minor electrical designs to Australian Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing electrical maintenance programs, including RCD compliance testing.
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults, schedule electrical maintenance, and coordinate breakdown responses across buildings and community facilities.
  • Proficiency with software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and asset or business management systems, with the ability to provide sound electrical advice to support asset management programs.

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
