Oberon Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Engineer to manage and oversee our Road Maintenance Council Contract (RMCC), develop and deliver maintenance and capital projects on Council’s regional roads, and provide advice on Development Application (DA) matters. The role involves ensuring sustainable maintenance and operation of relevant assets, managing assigned projects, preparing estimates, monitoring costs, and liaising with stakeholders to provide timely advice and reports.
The Project Engineer works closely and cooperatively with the Works Manager and Technical Services Director as well as all other Council employees to plan, deliver, monitor and review a broad range of capital project activities and maintenance services delivered by Council.
The successful applicant will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and considerable relevant work experience, preferably including in Local Government.
- Project management experience, including managing of contracts and supervision of contracts and preparing and adhering to budgets.
- Commitment to public safety, Work Health and Safety and due consideration of risk when making decisions.
- Able to prioritise multiple tasks and projects, while demonstrating proactive approaches and resourceful problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in procurement, tendering and contract administration.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering principles, regulations and industry best practise.
- High level computer literacy in the use of the MS suite of applications.
- Current class C NSW Drivers Licence.
- SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan (PWZ) Certificate.

Salary: Up to $119,643.68 + 3.5% CLA + 12% Superannuation + Leaseback vehicle.
Position Status: Permanent full time.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every second week.
