POSITION VACANT GENERAL LABOURER

The Council, is seeking applications from suitably qualified and/or experienced staff to meet Council’s operational plan requirements for the position of full-time position of General labourer. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of construction and maintenance activities across Council worksites, contributing to operational efficiency and safety.
  • Operate tools, plant, and equipment as required and in accordance with relevant certifications and safety standards.
  • Assist with (or undertake subject to qualification) site setup and traffic management, including signage and safety measures, to ensure compliant and secure work environments.
  • Maintain Council assets and infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and public spaces, as directed.
  • Contribute to environmental and site cleanliness, including vegetation management and waste removal.
  • Follow administrative and safety procedures, including documentation, reporting, and risk assessments, to support compliance and accountability.
 Essential requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in a labouring role preferably gained within a civil works environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence or above or equivalent. (Provision licence is acceptable).
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Traffic Controller Certification (or ability to readily acquire prior to commencement).
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certification (or ability to readily acquire prior to commencement).
  • Working knowledge of roles and responsibilities under WHS Act 2011.

Additional position requirements

  • Participation on the on-call roster.
  • Additional hours may be required subject to work priorities.

Condition of employment

  • Salary range of $1048.15 to $1152.95 subject to the demonstration of qualifications, skills and competencies.
  • Satisfactory health assessment, drug and alcohol screening, police and working with children check is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
  • Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award and Council’s salary structure.
