These professional positions, within the dynamic Infrastructure Delivery team, play a key role in delivering new capital works across the beautiful Tweed Shire.
We’re looking for two people with sound experience in project management and leading end-to-end delivery of civil infrastructure projects—from roads and bridges to drainage, water and sewerage—ensuring high-quality outcomes and strong client satisfaction. You’ll bring your technical expertise, eye for detail and adaptable mindset to a collaborative team environment, while enjoying the opportunity to manage contracts, liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to meaningful, community-focused work. Entry level (graduate) engineers are welcome to apply for the Job Grade 6 roles.
About the role:
- Contribute to the planning, design and delivery of new capital works projects, with a focus on roads, bridges, drainage, earthworks, concrete, water and sewer infrastructure.
- Operate with a high level of autonomy while supporting the Senior Engineer – Civil Design / Construction on complex engineering tasks and project management.
- Provide professional engineering, construction and project management advice to internal Council units and make informed decisions across a range of infrastructure types.
- Apply technical expertise in roads, drainage, earthworks, concrete, water, wastewater, design, construction, cost estimating and design review.
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, within budget and to a high standard, while proactively managing risks and stakeholder expectations.
- Contribute flexibly across the Infrastructure Delivery Unit, including the Contracts Section when needed, and engage in ongoing performance and development activities.

- Job Grade 6 (Civil Engineering Designer and/or Graduate Engineer Construction): from $84,316 per annum with increments up to $99,874, plus 12% super

We are seeking:
- A degree-qualified engineer or a professional with substantial technical experience in a similar civil infrastructure role.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract management, including procurement, tender evaluation, risk assessment, contract supervision and closeout.
- Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a sound understanding of WHS, environmental legislation and asset management systems.
- Design Based Role
- Proven skills in computer-aided drafting and engineering design, preferably using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Civil Site Design and Magnet.
- Experience with flood and drainage modelling, hydrologic analysis, and the application of relevant Australian standards and design guidelines.
- Construction Based Role
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex civil engineering projects simultaneously, with strong project and program management skills.
- Extensive hands-on experience in construction supervision, construction management and civil infrastructure design.
