About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to join our high performing finance team.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant- Financial Operations, the Senior Accounts Payables Officer plays a leading role in delivering the accounts payable function her at council and includes

-Leadership of a small team and delivery of the Accounts Payable function and associated services

-Actively lead the development and improvement, implementation, monitoring and review of the Accounts Payable functions, policies, procedures, and processes including financial administrative systems

-Maintenance of accounting records for taxation and accounts payable purposes

-Providing high quality customer service to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

-Working with the Senior Accountant- Financial Operations to process tax lodgements.

As the Senior Payables Officer, you will be a valued member of the team. Your leadership skills, experience, and attention to detail will help provide exceptional service, and ensure information is accurately captured and processed. The position is based at the council Wollongong Administration Office and may offer flexible/ hybrid working conditions.

About you:

  • You will have a wealth of experience as a Senior Accounts Payable.
  • Be an experienced leader with effective organisational skills who can provide guidance and direction to team members to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Thrive on working in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Be meticulous in everything you do and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have ability to multi-task, work independently, in a team and across teams.
  • Understand the accountabilities associated with the relevant legislation as it applies to the Payables function.
  • Ability to be innovative and demonstrate skills for the development of policies, procedures, and processes for the Payables functions.
  • Previous knowledge and use of applicable Finance/ Accounts Payable software: Technology One- desired.
  • Experience using invoice scanning software- Kofax, Abby, Rapid AP- desired.
