Network & Telecommunications Administrator

Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Network and Telecommunications Administrator to play a key role in the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of our enterprise network and telecommunications environment.

This hands-on position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and security of critical network infrastructure, telecommunications services and connectivity across the organisation.

About the role:

  • Design, implement, administer and support LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, firewall, telecommunications and mobile service environments.
  • Develop and implement network strategies that meet current and future business requirements.
  • Manage and support routers, switches, firewalls, WAN services and wireless infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance, capacity and availability, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and telecommunications issues to minimise service disruption.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable technology services.
  • Develop, maintain and improve technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, technology upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.

We are seeking:

  • Relevant Information Technology qualifications, industry certifications, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and supporting resilient enterprise network environments.
  • Experience with HPE Aruba switching and wireless networking solutions.
  • Experience working with Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Experience with network monitoring, performance analysis and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Well-developed communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

This position is based in Tweed Heads, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
