As a Community Development Officer, you’ll play a central role in connecting Council with the people we serve helping turn community ideas into meaningful programs, initiatives and outcomes. You’ll build strong partnerships, champion community voices and help shape a more inclusive, resilient and connected Dubbo region.

Working across a diverse range of projects from youth and community safety initiatives to inclusion and wellbeing programs you’ll create opportunities that respond to real community needs and drive lasting impact. You’ll make an impact by:

  • Building strong relationships with community members, organisations and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes across the Dubbo Region.
  • Designing, delivering and evaluating community programs and initiatives aligned with Council's strategic priorities and community needs.
  • Leading and supporting initiatives such as youth programs, community safety, inclusion and disability access projects.
  • Advocating for the community by identifying gaps., influencing service delivery and collaborating with government and non-government agencies.
  • Supporting community groups and projects through engagement, coordination and access to funding opportunities.

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma in Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering community development programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of community needs, networks and relevant government or sector programs.
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse groups.
  • A proactive, confident and self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

We would also love you to have:

  • Knowledge of community safety or crime prevention initiatives
  • Experience working with youth and community based interagency networks

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $80,529 to $93,588 plus superannuation. (Note: a 4% salary increase applies to this role effective from 11th July 2026)
