About the Role
City of Ryde has obtained grant funding for a temporary part time Biosecurity Weeds Officer to join our team working 14 hours across two days until August 2027, with a possibility for extension to August 2029. In this role you will be a key part of Council’s Natural Areas team, delivering Weeds Action Program activities and ensuring Council’s obligations in relation to weeds are met in accordance with the Biosecurity Act 2015. You will actively investigate problematic weeds in designated high risk areas across the city. You will implement and manage the weed monitoring program, engage with key stakeholders, and have knowledge and understanding of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and its regulatory application. You will need to have demonstrated experience in weed inspections, plant and weed identification and community education.
Key Requirements
- Minimum Certificate III in Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Ecosystem Management, a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
- Chemical Application accreditation (eg- Chemcert AQF 3)
- Class C (Standard) Drivers Licence
- Understanding of the Greater Sydney Regional Strategic Weed Management Plan
- Your salary will be in the range $70,449.12 to $82,777.72 (pro rata) + superannuation and subject to your experience and qualifications.
