The Environmental Compliance Officer investigates breaches of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act and the Local Government Act in relation to contaminated lands, pollution, building non compliances, illegal land uses, unhealthy lands and more.

Salary
$77,500 to $104,459 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight) plus superannuation and a 9-day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

About the role
The role requires the application of your knowledge and management of investigations in a range of legislation including but not limited to the Local Government Act 1993, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The role also requires an ability to manage competing workload priorities and provide quality customer service.
The role sits within the Environmental Compliance Team, reporting to the Team Leader Environmental Compliance and overseen by a Senior Environmental Compliance Officer.
Position requirements
- Applicants must have, or be studying, a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Law (Local Government) or the like, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Good written and oral communication skills,
- Good computer literacy,
- Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills,
- Ability to provide quality customer service, and
- A current Class C driver’s licence
