About the Role
As a Duty Manager at the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and customer‑focused daily operation of the facility. You will provide on‑site leadership, supervise staff, manage incidents and emergencies, and ensure full compliance with legislative, safety and operational requirements.
You will play a key role in maintaining a safe environment for patrons and staff, overseeing aquatic operations, monitoring plant and water quality systems, and ensuring the centre operates smoothly and harmoniously. You will support staff development, contribute to operational procedures and rosters, and assist with opening and closing the centre as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, efficient and customer‑focused day‑to‑day operation of the RALC
- Provide on‑site leadership and supervision to pool staff
- Manage incidents and confidently respond to emergency situations
- Maintain a safe environment for patrons and staff, identifying and addressing hazards
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, contractors and centre users
- Supervise, train and support staff in line with policies, procedures and legislative requirements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards
- Open and close the centre as required
- Assist in developing workplace procedures, rosters and operational documentation
- Monitor and maintain filtration, reticulation and chemical dosing equipment to ensure effective water quality management
- Perform additional duties consistent with the skills and qualifications of the role
About You
You are a confident, proactive leader who thrives in a dynamic aquatic environment. You communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and exercise sound judgement when managing safety risks, customer behaviour and emergency situations. You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and know how to motivate, train and support a team.
You bring strong knowledge of aquatic industry standards, pool supervision practices and plant room operations. You take pride in maintaining high safety standards and delivering an exceptional customer experience every shift.
The RALC is open 7 days a week, flexibility will be required to work across the roster, including weekend and afternoon / evening shift.
Essential Requirements
- TAFE NSW Pool Operations / RLSSA Technical Operations (or equivalent)
- Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current Working With Children Check
- Significant experience in a similar aquatic operations or supervisory role
- Strong understanding of aquatic industry standards, including pool supervision, water quality and plant room operations
- Proven ability to educate and guide patrons on safe behaviour in a pool environment
- Ability to identify, address and manage safety hazards effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Your commencing annual salary will range from $70,449.12 to $91, 583.86 + Superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
