Salary Range: $71,647 - $83,265 per annum + superannuation
Are you the kind of person who won’t stop until the numbers make sense? Love a good reconciliation and not afraid to chase down the odd cent? Do you take pride in knowing the numbers are right — and have the skills to prove it?
We’re looking for a Finance Officer who enjoys getting the details right and keeping things balanced behind the scenes. If you’ve got hands-on experience with bank accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and strong Excel skills, this is a great opportunity to step into a role where your work genuinely matters. You’ll be someone who values accuracy, works carefully with financial data, and enjoys digging into discrepancies to get things right.
In this role, you’ll be hands-on with Council’s day-to-day financial operations, with a strong focus on bank reconciliations (daily, weekly, and monthly) and revenue-related balance sheet reconciliations at month end. You’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving variances, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting reporting, audit, and budget processes. You’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Strong communication skills will be important, as you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and support financial processes, while also being confident working independently when needed.
You’ll be joining a capable and supportive finance team that works collaboratively, shares knowledge, and looks out for each other. The team is known for delivering accurate, timely financial outcomes and is always looking for ways to improve systems and processes. It’s an environment where attention to detail is valued, and your ideas for improvement are encouraged.
We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation in finance or accounting, whether through experience or qualifications. You’ll bring experience in reconciliations, strong Excel skills, and the ability to pick up systems quickly. Experience in local government or with systems like Authority is highly regarded, but not essential. If you’re organised, proactive, and enjoy solving problems, you’ll fit right in.
