Governance Officer

This role supports Council’s governance functions by providing expert advice on policies, delegations, privacy, conflict of interest and maintaining a range of governance registers. It is also responsible for managing access to information applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

  • Advise on corporate policies and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Maintain governance registers and provide related guidance.
  • Manage access to information applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
  • Assist with complaints, privacy matters, and unreasonable conduct matters.
  • Support governance reporting, delegations and records management.

We are seeking:

  • Holds a relevant diploma or has equivalent professional experience in governance or a related field.
  • Demonstrates strong experience providing governance advice and supporting governance frameworks.
  • Possesses solid, contemporary knowledge of governance practices and legislative requirements.
  • Has proven capability in managing access to information requests and applying the relevant legislation.
  • Shows excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare reports, collaborate effectively, influence stakeholders, and develop practical solutions.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
