About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional in the transport planning/traffic engineering industry to lead and manage the Transport Planning Team within Council’s Traffic Services department. This position will support the Manager Traffic Services in developing and delivering innovative transport policies, plans strategies and programs that support City of Ryde’s future transport vision. This role is responsible for shaping an integrated, safe and sustainable transport network that balances future movement needs, place outcomes, road safety, active & public transport and economic growth.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, oversee major projects and assets including the Rowe Street East Car Park, manage consultants and budgets, prepare strategic reports and grant submissions, and provide expert advice to Council and government partners. This is a key leadership position requiring strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills to deliver high-quality transport outcomes for the community.

Internally the position is known as Senior Coordinator Transport Planning. 

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil), Town Planning, Transport Planning or other relevant discipline, with substantial diversified experience in engineering and some management experience
  • Experience in project development for transport related projects
  • Sound knowledge of key legislation governing public roads and transport infrastructure, including the Roads Act 1993, the Transport Administration Act 1988, and related statutory frameworks.
  • A good understanding of transport modelling such as SIDRA, including the different levels of modelling, their appropriateness for different projects, and their inputs and outputs.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing or responding to policies, plans, strategies and guidelines that aligns with industry accepted transport planning frameworks, engineering standards and practices.
  • Excellent business writing skills and ability to produce high quality reports, correspondence etc 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff

A total salary package of up to $147,295 + superannuation is offered for this position, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
