Heavy Combination driver/Labourer

  • Work collaboratively as part of the Works and Services Roads team to deliver operational and capital works programs.
  • Contribute positively and collaboratively as a team member to deliver agreed work plans and achieve team objectives.
  • Operate plant, equipment, and vehicles, including heavy combination vehicles, in accordance with procedures and safety requirements, and undertake routine maintenance to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records for maintenance, servicing, faults, and damage, ensuring logbooks are correctly completed as required.
  • Engage in training and development aligned with role expectations to support high-quality service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the Supervisor to ensure a high standard of customer service is always maintained
  • Actively participate in risk assessments and safe work practices in accordance with Work Health and Safety requirements.

 

  • Maintain an active awareness of workplace risk management issues relevant to the role, and promptly report any concerns that may pose risk, liability, or reputational impact to Council to supervision.

 

  • Participate in incident investigations where required and support the implementation of corrective actions to prevent repeat occurrences.

Position Overview

This position supports the maintenance and construction of Council roads network by safely and efficiently operating plant and equipment under routine supervision. The role involves delivering work in line with Council’s adopted service levels, completing required documentation, and contributing positively to team performance and customer service outcomes.

Work conditions will be in accordance with Circular Head Council Enterprise Agreement.

Candidate Profile

Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Heavy Combination driver/Labourer with Practical experience in civil road construction and maintenance as a requirement, with the ability to work safely in multiskilled teams while following WHS requirements. The role involves operating Heavy Rigid machinery, plant, equipment, and trucks on public roads, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety obligations and the ability to apply safe work methods in daily tasks.
  • Current Driver Licence with the ability to operate trucks and Heavy Combination vehicles on public roads, and travel between Council facilities as required.
  • A valid White Card is required, along with practical experience in civil road construction and maintenance.
  • Competent in operating a variety of plant and equipment used in road works, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
  • Able to apply basic project planning and coordination principles to support timely and effective delivery of works.

 

  • Able to deal professionally and respectfully with customers and the community, maintaining high service standards and positive relationships.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will earn an attractive salary of $68,073 - $76,331 PLUS super and a range of benefits including:
