THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council is seeking to employ an enthusiastic team member to undertake social planning, advocacy and policy/strategy development activities to enhance the health and wellbeing of the Fairfield City community.
You should have a good understanding of the function of social planning in Local Government, issues facing culturally diverse disadvantaged communities and how to advocate effectively to improve community outcomes. You will have the ability to work strategically and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including with other Council teams, executive leadership and with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
You should have the ability to manage budgets and oversee corporate reporting and meet obligations to funding bodies as required.
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as policy or social impact, together with demonstrated work experience
- A sound understanding of the function of social planning within a local government context
- Ability to build, nurture, and sustain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to collaboratively deliver initiatives that improve outcomes for disadvantaged communities
- Demonstrated experience in social planning activities, including needs analysis, social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, policy or strategy development, implementation and evaluation and reporting
- Experience in advocating for needs of disadvantaged communities in formal settings, including written submissions and in-person
- Current Working with Children Check
- Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2)
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent full-time position, working 70 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade 6, with a commencing annualised salary range of $95,321 p.a. with progression to $105,217 p.a. on demonstrated competencies. Performance progression will be up to $111,656 p.a. plus superannuation.
