Salary Range:
- Base Salary: commencing from $63,245.00 (Grade 6, step 1)
- Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance: $1,013.48 per annum.
- 12% superannuation
- Total salary package: $71,970.00
The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.
Council Overview
Strathfield Council is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 60,000 by 2041.
About the Opportunity
Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team in maintaining Council’s sports fields and open space areas.
This hands-on role plays a key part in ensuring these community spaces are safe, functional, and presented to a high standard. Duties include mowing, line marking, synthetic turf care, and general grounds upkeep.
This is a great opportunity to work outdoors, operate a variety of plant and equipment, and contribute to spaces enjoyed by the local community.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification in the Horticulture (minimum TAFE Certificate III in Horticulture) and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Current class C driver’s license
- Experience in turf care and maintenance and general labouring including mowing, whipper snipping and edging.
- Basic working knowledge of procedures or practices in one function. General schooling, Year 12. Standard or specialist training in one specific subject or skill e.g. completing a TAFE Certificate Levels 1 & 2.
- AQF Level 3 Chemical Certificate or willing to obtain.
- Possess and maintain a level of physical fitness sufficient to undertake the activities of the role.
- Demonstrated commitment to a self-directed work environment and ability to take initiative to ensure gainful and productive work for each working day.
- Ability to communicate to a level that enables the accurate interpretation of instructions.
- Ability to work in a team environment and individually under limited supervision.
- Possess and maintain a level of physical fitness sufficient to undertake the activities of the role.
- Certificate for General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW.
Desirable
- Experience in turf wicket preparation.
- Experience in sports field line marking.
- Traffic Control Certificate.
