The role
MidCoast Council position title: Team Leader Financial Accounting

In this leadership role, you’ll guide our skilled Financial Accounting Team to ensure every dollar is recorded with precision and every report meets the highest standards. From preparing Council’s Annual Financial Reports to managing treasury functions and ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, your expertise will directly support the services, infrastructure, and programs that make our region a great place to live.

You’ll lead a team of five, fostering growth, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose. Your ability to meet deadlines, manage complexity, and embrace change will ensure our financial operations remain robust and accurate.

What you'll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance and CPA or CA ANZ membership (or working towards)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Experience in financial reporting and treasury management
  • An in-depth knowledge of the NSW local government finance environment
  • A passion for contributing to something bigger than yourself

Salary: Circa $120,000 $140,000 p.a. plus 12% superannuation (subject to skills and experience)

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.

Closing date: Sunday 31 August 2025 at 11.30pm.
