About the Role

You will be integral in shaping the future people vision for City of Ryde! With our City undergoing significant development, our residential population will likely double to over 250,000 people by 2050. Council is striving to strike the right balance between confronting the housing crisis, whilst also ensuring the timely delivery of critical infrastructure and growing high quality employment opportunities in the City of Ryde.


This unique opportunity will give you breadth to lead the P&C function for our business incorporating your innovative approach to projects across all disciplines. You will partner with the leadership teams to build and drive frameworks across capability and performance.


You will champion City of Ryde business model, inspiring, leading and motivating the team to success. Your ability to work in a complex matrix structure, understanding the nuances of development and continuous improvement at all levels.


You will be able to understand the big picture, building a culture of high performance, collaboration and growth to sustain our community requirements.


About You

You will be strategic whilst being hands on in your approach relating to all our people initiatives. You are an influencer with superior communication skills to lead our teams on a journey of mapping the right direction regarding future state workforce strategies.


You will have a proactive mindset, driving people change across our organisation. You will have experience working in a similar role, with the ability to focus on practices, issues and trends in a diverse organisation.


In addition, you will also have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations, risk management, equal employment opportunity and work health and safety legislation and the capacity to develop a customer focused and ethical culture and an equitable, healthy and safe workplace
  • Proven ability to plan and implement People and Culture Management strategies, policies and procedures that support both business process change and organisational reform
  • An appropriate degree qualification in Human Resources or related discipline or extensive experience in successfully delivering a range of Human Resources outcomes


This is a bespoke opportunity to build a P&C function from the ground up; you will be able to use your expertise to drive innovative practices building one of the leading LGA's to be an employer of choice.


Your commencing annual salary will range from $174,500 to $226,800 + Superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
