An exciting opportunity is available within our Legal and Governance Branch to fill the role of Assistant Governance Officer as a temporary maternity leave replacement. The Assistant Governance Officer supports the Governance Team to provide the public with access to Council information in accordance with relevant legislation, administer the Council delegation's framework and deliver Council Meetings and Councillor briefings, among other governance functions.

Essential:
- Appropriate qualifications and/or level of experience in a governance, policy or legal role (preferably Local Government).
- Working knowledge and skills in interpreting legislation relating to Local Government operations, in particular the Local Government Act 1993, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, with a strong focus on increasing awareness and achieving strategic results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience in writing and producing correspondence, reports, policies and submissions to a high standard.
- Proven ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- High level interpersonal and teamwork skills.
