Employment Arrangement 35 hours per week with access to Council’s Agile Work Policy
Salary Range Commencing from $65,249.00 (Grade 7, Step 1) plus 12% Superannuation. The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within the position. 

Council Overview

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

About the Role

Strathfield Council has a great opportunity for a Horticulturist to join our Operations Section on a permanent, full-time basis. 

To maintain and enhance areas around Strathfield Council’s LGA and conduct horticulturist responsibilities, including but not limited to, pruning, planting, mulching, spraying, mowing and litter collection.

To assist in other areas of Park & Recreation maintenance programs as required.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

 

  • Qualifications in Horticulture (minimum TAFE Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens) or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • A current Class C Driver Licence.
  • General Safety (White Card) Induction.
  • Chemcert training (AQF 3)
  • Demonstrated experience in a horticultural role and in the maintenance of all associated plant equipment
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, exercise initiative and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision and leadership of small teams
  • Demonstrated level of verbal, numeracy, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying plants
