City of Ryde Libraries comprises of five branches at Ryde, West Ryde, North Ryde, Eastwood, Gladesville and a significant online library. Our libraries are lively, busy places of social inclusion where members of our community borrow items for leisure and lifelong learning, learn about new technology, participate in activities, and use our spaces for studying.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity within our Library Collections Team for a motivated and experienced Library Technician Serials, who is also passionate about providing excellent customer service. This position is responsible for maintaining and developing the serials service of the library's collection for our growing and diverse community and contributes to managing collections tasks and duties in the team as required.
This role includes rostered weekend customer service shifts, evenings and acting as shift supervisor as required.
About You
- Successful completion of Diploma in Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification.
- Experience and knowledge of cataloguing and producing high quality cataloguing records.
- Familiarity with RDA, MARC 21, MARC Edit, Dewey, Library of Congress Authorities and Libraries Australia database.
- Knowledge of classification of library materials and learning resources.
- Knowledge and skill to work with various Library Management Systems.
- Attention to detail and the ability to adapt to new systems and procedures.
- Excellent teamwork skills with proven experience to also work independently.
- Experience in a vibrant customer service role and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Experience in serials collections management desirable.
- Extensive work experience in a library environment.
Note: This is a Child-Related position and employment is subject to verification of the Working With Children Check status. The cost of obtaining a WWC clearance is at the applicant's expense.
