About the Role

The City of Ryde is a city on the move with major commercial and residential developments underway in many parts of our local government area. Due to one of our Senior Development Engineers commencing maternity leave in late July, we have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer experienced in Development Engineering assessment to join our Development Assessment Department for a temporary period for up to 12 months.

You will be a key member of the Development Assessment team and be responsible for providing specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders relating to development engineering related issues. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to use your engineering expertise to help the efficient functioning of Council's development assessment process and will provide you with professional satisfaction and career life balance.

About You

Are you committed to developing pragmatic and effective solutions to engineering problems related to development? Do derive satisfaction facilitating the engineering aspects of the assessment process for the community? Do you have significant demonstrated experience as a Development Engineer?

In addition, you will also have:
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • A high level of effective written and oral communication skills
  • Current Class C driver's licence
  • Proven ability to assess and interpret
    • Stormwater modelling software such as DRAINS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MUSIC,
    • Stormwater management concepts such as provision for failure modes, OSD design and WSUD treatments.
    • Traffic and Parking analysis, including intimate knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards and Guidelines.
    • Identifying risk and issues potentially arising in public domain areas from development.
    • A fundamental understanding of construction management, geotechnical, structural principals and subdivision principals associated with development.
  • Be outcome driven and customer focused with limited supervision.
  • An understanding of environmental and planning legislation and the application of relevant planning policies.
Your commencing annual salary will range from $98,182.98 to $122,728.73 + Superannuation + 3.5% civil liability allowance + Leaseback Vehicle, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
