Employment Arrangement 35 hours per week with access to Council’s Agile Work Policy.

Salary Range Commencing from $84,338.80 salary (Grade 14, Step 1) plus 11.5% Superannuation. The successful candidate will have access to step increases based on competency assessment and tenure within the position. 

Council Overview

Strathfield Council is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

About the Role

This Environmental Project Officer – Circular Economy is responsible for driving circular economy and environmental initiatives by implementing strategies, projects and initiatives that result in successful sustainable waste reduction and management solutions within Council and the wider community.

The position involves implementing and delivering projects, programs, and policies to educate and support Council and the community to achieve circular economy and environmental goals. The key focus of this job is to drive circular economy initiatives in the Strathfield LGA for a thriving, sustainable, and resilient community. Officers are required to liaise with internal/external stakeholders to coordinate and manage successful outcomes.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of experience in the environment and waste field, including contract and project management experience, development and implementation of sustainability/waste initiatives, policies, development assessment advice, plans of management and delivery plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including staff and community consultation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant administration and reporting.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and management of community engagement programs.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, exercise initiative and meet targets.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality customer service and representing Council positively
  • Current class C driver licence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, when required.
