The Senior Development Assessment Planner position is instrumental in the delivery of excellent customer service and planning outcomes through the development assessment functions of the Planning & Place team.

The role will ensure that future planning decisions and development outcomes within the Strathfield local government area support a positive and vibrant future of the community that enhances the existing high standard of amenity, environmental attributes, and sense of place.

About You

You have the opportunity to be joining Strathfield Council at a really exciting time. The Planning and Place team has recently restructured and now has dedicated Strategic Planning and Development Assessment Teams. This has allowed the refocus of team workloads to ensure clear purpose and direction.

The Development Assessment, although new in name, has been a core function of Council for a long time. Given the growth pathways ahead of us, the person coming into this role, needs to be focused in ensuring the timely and efficient management of a broad application case load, implement a good rhythm of decision making and how to advocate for good project outcomes.

Looking ahead, application workload will include dealing with a scale of development not commonly experienced in Strathfield, specifically the Homebush Precinct. So, experience of medium and high rise development within a complex urban renewal precinct will be highly regard. So too will be experience in utilising a range of assessment tools including design review panels, local planning panel management and otherwise being a strong advocate for great planning outcomes.

Coming into Council you will have the joy of working with a group of planners and business support professionals who know their stuff, are always willing to share advice and otherwise are a great bunch of people to work with.
