Innovative corporate professional with a sense of adventure and a can-do attitude wanted for a key leadership role in outback Queensland
The next step in your career could be more 4WD adventure than daily commute, working with some of the biggest outback tourism events in the country. This will include planning, implementing and improving community services and facilities for a shire covering 94,823 sq kms and a population of 300.
The role is based in Birdsville, the tourism hub of Diamantina Shire.
In addition to extensive local government experience, you’ll bring a strong sense of connection to community as well as a passion for making positive change.
Diamantina Shire Council is looking for a strategic thinker who can lead and develop a committed team in delivering high quality community services to the Diamantina region.
The role oversees a range of functions including external grants and funding opportunities, events, childcare, library services, pool and gym operations, sport and recreation, community health and wellbeing and art and culture.
Working in small towns far from coastal urban areas has some challenges, but the opportunities for someone who has the right set of skills and attitude are wide open.
You’re guaranteed a diverse and stimulating role in an iconic location, and you’ll be rewarded with a generous remuneration package, star studded night skies and incredible memories.
Diamantina Shire doesn’t have a Westfield within easy driving distance, but it does offer a unique lifestyle and outback experiences that will change how you look at the world.
If you thrive on challenges, if you’re looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the region you live and work in, contact us to find out more.
