Procurement Officer

Fairfield City Council Full Time Permanent 8/09/2022

THE POSITION: Procurement Officer supports the Procurement Team in the delivery of Council’s strategic and operational objectives including facilitation of all RFXs (i.e. Expressions of Interest, Request for Tender, Request for Quotation etc.)


The position is part of a team that provides procurement advice, assistance and training to Business Units including preparation of tender documentation, specifications and relevant correspondence to ensure that all procurement activities comply with probity and strategic policy directives of Council and legislation.



  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Procurement and Contracting and/or experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in undertaking the tender process and engagement of services including but not limited to the development of tender documentation, evaluation methodology, evaluation, analysis, negotiation and formal acceptances

·         Well-developed customer service, interpersonal, verbal and writing skills.

·         Sound organisational skill, time management and prioritisation skills along with a demonstrated ability to successfully balance competing priorities.

  • Proven experience in Microsoft Programs such as Word and Excel.


  • Partner with staff across the organisation provide advice and establish co-operative professional working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

·         Problem-solving skills including capability to research the market and analyse information and to present viewpoints in a manner that can be easily understood by those from a non-procurement background

·         Experience in using e-tendering portals contract management software or equivalent.

·         Understanding of Local Government procurement legislation and policies, including probity requirements



·         Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight

·         This position is a Grade 5, salary range is $77,631 p.a. with progression to $90,936 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, plus superannuation.
