Moree Plains, known as the Spa Capital of Australia and home of the black soil plains, is the most productive agricultural shire in all of Australia. Ideally nestled on the New South Wales and Queensland border, MoreePlains Shire is one of the largest local government areas in the state, with an area of approximately 17,930 square kilometres.

Moree Plains Shire Council seeks to appoint an Interim General Manager, to work collaboratively with the Mayor, Councillors and staff to ensure the Council remains a community-engaged, financially sustainable, customer-centric organisation, delivering on the Council’s vision for the future. Leading an organisation of 235 people (EFT) and an operating budget of around $54M; the challenge for the incoming Interim General Manager will be to maintain an integrated, collaborative culture, that serves the community.

This challenging role requires candidates to have proven extensive GM/CEO experience in local government, state government or utilities. Critical capabilities include strategic leadership, financial management, communications and people leadership, with a history of successfully leading cultural change to build high performance within a customer-focused organisation that genuinely engages with the community.

An attractive 12-month contract will be offered to the successful candidate.
