About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Governance Officer to provide business partner support to management for the implementation of Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting and Governance Frameworks and resulting programs and processes.
This role functions as part of a small team and as such will be required to perform duties to deliver broader corporate goals, including the provision of governance advice, ensuring Council acts in accordance with the Local Government Act, 1993, providing legislative interpretation, access to information and preparation of Integrated Planning and Reporting documents.
Qualifications in Business, Public Administration, Law or a related discipline (or working towards) and/ or have substantial relevant professional experience with knowledge of the Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting and Governance Frameworks.
Experience in the development and implementation of governance processes and programs including a commitment to continuous improvement and a demonstrated understanding of the corporate policy cycle and how it relates to broader strategic frameworks within the council will be key to this role.
Previous experience in preparing strategic documents and corporate reports, including undertaking research, interpreting data, and preparing reports for a range of audiences coupled with excellent communication (both written and verbal), strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to effectively manage your time will ensure your success.
Previous local government and Corporate System's experience and an understanding of legal concepts and administrative law principles will be well regarded.
