About the role
Council is currently seeking applications from suitably skilled and qualified individuals for the positions of Leading Hand - Civil Construction. These roles are responsible for assisting the Supervisor Civil Construction in managing both Council's and private works projects. You will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of site personnel and sub-contractors, the reporting of all relevant site activities and manage the quality of work performed.
The successful applicants will, from time to time, be required to work away. The shifts will depend on the location and nature of the work.
We are seeking Leading Hands for both permanent and 12 month term contract roles.
In preparation for the upcoming construction of the Coffs Harbour bypass, Council has been engaged to undertake the relocation of the associated Council water and sewer utility services. Council also has a full capital works program of roads, drainage and water and sewer to complete. As such, Council is looking to engage multiple Leading Hands to ensure all works are completed.
The ideal applicants will have a Certificate IV in Civil Construction or and demonstrated experience in civil infrastructure construction. Previous experience supervising the construction of stormwater, potable water, sewer reticulation, steel reinforced concrete structures, earthworks and road pavements, concrete formwork, steelfixing and associated works.
You will also have experience in supervision and management of staff and sub-contractors, with the ability to train staff in construction methodologies and

- National Construction Induction Certificate (White card)
- Class LR Drivers Licence as a minimum(or willing to obtain)
- Overhead Power Certificate of Exemption (desirable)
- Traffic Control Combined Licence (desirable)
- Specification B80 Concrete Grey Card (Desirable)
