Chief Financial Officer

Up to $139K + Super

Located in the rolling hills of the Central Tablelands with proximity to the Blue Mountains, Oberon offers a country lifestyle whilst being a footstep away from the next scenic adventure.

Oberon Council is seeking a suitably qualified senior finance professional with a proven track record overseeing financial management in a Local Government context and previous leadership experience to join the executive team.

The Chief Financial Officer works closely and cooperatively with the General Manager and all Directors as well as all other Council employees to plan, deliver, monitor and review a broad range of activities and services. 

The Chief Financial Officer encourages, inspires and leads innovation and creativity in the financial services areas of Council; provides accurate financial information to external and internal stakeholders; and assists in the transfer of knowledge to staff for the preparation of financial reporting for Council.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting combined with accredited CPA management qualifications and 5 years relevant work experience in a financial management role
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, monitoring and reporting on budgets and long-term financial planning
  • Demonstrated experience to provide financial guidance to see lodgement of end of year and audit functions finalised within the statutory timeframe requirements including FBT and GST and general operational annual returns.
  • Local Government experience is also encouraged.
