Central Highlands Regional Council is looking for a passionate and experienced leader for its Safety and Wellness program.
As an indication of the importance Council places on the safety and wellbeing of its staff, this position reports directly to the CEO and is a key member of the Whole of Management Team.
Central Highlands Regional Council is located in the heart of the Bowen Basin, home to the largest coal reserve in Australia and has a range of stunning natural features that include the Carnarvon Gorge, Blackdown Tablelands, and the Peak Downs ranges. Council covers an area of 60,000 sq kms and serves a population of over 33,000 residents. The area is well serviced by major airlines into Emerald every day and the coast is a 3.5 hour drive away.
Council is focused on delivering quality services and is financially sound, with a total budget of $218M and 523 staff.
The successful applicant will bring experience in devising and implementing safety and wellness processes and initiatives, demonstrated achievement through values-based leadership, and the ability to bring management and staff on the safety and wellness journey.
