Te Waka Rangapū Kaiāwhina
We are looking for a passionate Kaiāwhina, who will support Council strengthen relationships with Napier City Council, Tangata Whenua and Ahuriri Mana Whenua.
The Te Waka Rangapū Team of the Napier City Council is actively seeking a dedicated Kaiāwhina to assist in fostering stronger connections with Napier City Council, Tangata Whenua, and Ahuriri Mana Whenua. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Pou Whakarae, offering day-to-day support and guidance.
This presents an excellent opportunity for an organised and energetic administrator with adept relationship-building skills to join our committed team. The position plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, professional, and timely administrative and technical support for Te Waka Rangapū. Your contributions will be integral to realising the strategic objectives and reinforcing the council's overarching goals.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Monitor and manage for allocation the Te Waka Rangapū team emails in a coordinated manner
- Prepare correspondence and draft responses on behalf of Pou Whakarae, as requested, and prioritise items that need attention and/or reallocate as appropriate.
- Ensure all financial activity for the team is accurate and managed in accordance with the council financial processes and systems (e.g., Approval Plus)
- Coordinate responses to requests for information, disputes, and complaints within the required timeframe
- Support the professional development of the team by arranging course enrolments, travel, and accommodation.
- Support drafting material for Pānui ki te Marae, for approval from Te Kaiwhakahaere – Te Pou Rautaki.
- Coordinate events, hui or ceremonies on behalf of Te Waka Rangapū as appropriate including events where the Mayor, Governors, CE and Exec Directors requests support. Coordinate and organise a maximum of 2 large scale, public facing events per year in accordance with the Te Waka Rangapū activity management plan.
- Actively research and undertake appropriate professional development activities to grow the knowledge and experiences in the role.
To be considered for this integral position, candidates must possess:
- NCEA Level 3 or the equivalent level
- Experience in administration assistant or personal assistant role
- Sound understanding of Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga
- Relationship management skills
- Experience in event coordination
- Proven ability to co-ordinate tasks and work programmes across a variety of teams and professional disciplines
- Microsoft Office essential (outlook, word, excel, teams etc)
- Financial literacy
This is a full time opportunity, working Monday to Friday. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
