Weeds Compliance Officer

This role offers the opportunity to combine environmental expertise, regulatory decision-making, and community engagement through the delivery of weed compliance under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015. Working across different land tenures, the Weeds Compliance Officer undertakes inspections, supports enforcement outcomes, and works closely with landholders, public authorities, contractors, and internal teams to improve weed management practices and protect the unique environmental values of the Blue Mountains. The position contributes to identifying and responding to emerging weed threats, maintaining spatial and operational records, shaping priority weed inspection and management programs, and providing practical advice to residents to support long-term biosecurity outcomes.

Applicants must hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (or similar), a Class C license, and AQF 3/4 chemical accreditation. Essential skills include Blue Mountains weed identification and weed management experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills for daily public interaction, organisational expertise, strong computer skills and a commitment to WHS.

A recruitment pool will be created from this process to fill future permanent or temporary contract vacancies as they arise.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $76,426 gross per annum

                          + 12% superannuation

  + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary

  + annual award increase
