About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Parks Planning, the Climate Planner will drive strategic projects that strengthen climate resilience and support the transition to net zero emissions. This role has a strategic focus on the climate resilience planning across Council and for the future management and embellishment of its open spaces. This will be through the development and delivery of key plans and initiatives such as the Ryde Resilience Plan, Ryde Biodiversity Plan, and Net Zero Plan. Working collaboratively with teams across Council, you will help embed sustainable practices into the planning, design, and management of the City’s open spaces.
Your commencing annual salary will range from $98,182.98 - $127,637.87 + superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
About You
We are looking for a Climate Planner who will lead projects that enhance green infrastructure, tree canopy, biodiversity, and community wellbeing, while managing budgets and ensuring the effective delivery of outcomes, whilst providing expert advice and developing partnerships to advance renewable energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicle infrastructure.
In addition, you will also have:
- Degree level qualification in sustainability, Climate Science, Environmental Science or equivalent experience and / or equivalent degree.
- A strong understanding of climate science, policies and mitigation and adaption strategies and initiatives.
- Excellent knowledge of legislation, regulations, and other associated technical documents
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of climate change, net zero, renewable energy and / or open spaces sustainability projects
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to negotiate project delivery outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence.
