About the role
We are seeking to appoint a permanent part-time (24.5 hours per week) Information & Customer Service Librarian to work within the City of Parramatta Libraries. This position is directly responsible to the Coordinator of Information and Customer Service.
This position is responsible for providing quality information and customer services across all service points. In the absence of the Librarian – Information and Weekend services, acts as Officer in Charge and be responsible for supervision of staff and the operation and security of Library facilities.
The hours are:
- Monday 9:00am – 1:00pm
- Tuesday 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Wednesday 1:00pm – 8:00pm
- Saturday 12:00pm – 4:00pm
- Sunday 1:30pm – 5:00pm
Please note this position requires working regular weekend and evening shift.
About the person
The successful candidate should have at least two years of experience in staff management within public library environment.
It is essential for applicant to have a recognised professional tertiary qualification in Information Science/Librarianship (eligible for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association), or equivalent.
The candidate will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Ability to deliver high quality customer service in a busy service environment
- Ability to work in a team environment and employ conflict resolution skills
- Proven commitment to continuous improvement processes including demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness to changing needs and demands
- Well-developed ability to organize and prioritise tasks and work under pressure
- Demonstrated experience and sound understanding of current technological and web based applications in the information and library environment
