Investigation Officer - Building Control And Compliance

THE POSITION: Fairfield City Council is seeking a self-starting Investigation Officer to join the Building Control and Compliance Division. The primary purpose of this position is to deal effectively and expeditiously with complaints related to unauthorised building works and building uses with the City of Fairfield.

The successful applicant will assist in the implementation and delivery of compliance programs and policies that will fulfil Fairfield City Council’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for both our residents and visitors. You will be responsible for carrying out site visits and inspections, conducting interviews and investigations, drafting and issuing correspondence, reports and notices and following up outcomes, as well as court prosecutions as required.

ESSENTIAL:  You will have recent investigative experience and appropriate qualifications, knowledge and understanding in the field of compliance in local government including knowledge of relevant legislation related to the function of the position.  You will also have established communication, organisation and IT skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance competing priorities.

  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 4, salary range is $ 64,397.00 p.a. with progression to $ 75,431.00 p.a. on demonstrated competencies.
