What you need to know...

  • permanent full time - 70 hours per fortnight
  • salary - $81,416 - $97,090 per annum, plus superannuation
  • a 9 day fortnight
  • location - Grafton
  • the opportunity to accrue time in lieu
  • the opportunity to 'purchase' leave

About the role

We are looking for a motivated professional with detailed knowledge and experience in public land policy and management including native title issues.  You’ll be required to oversee Council’s strategic planning of its public land management responsibilities. The position will play a lead role in coordinating Council’s proactive approach to meeting the challenges and opportunities of its Native Title obligations.  You’ll be able to live and work in the Clarence Valley where we enjoy the finer things in life like catching a fish or a wave before work, a quick detour via golf on your way home, river views on your daily commute, and a work life balance that is exactly as it should be – balanced.

In this position you will:

  • Be responsible for overseeing the delivery of plans of management as required by the Local Government and Crown Land Management Acts.
  • Be Council’s principle Native Title Manager and as such, provide expert technical and strategic advice on all related matters
  • Provide development control input on public land management and Native Title issues

The successful applicant will:

  • Be widely experienced in the planning and management of public land
  • Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of legislation and contemporary issues relating to Native Title
  • Skilled in research and writing policy
  • Be able to solve challenges

This position is located at Council's Grafton office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

A probation period applies to this position.
