Para Planner / Gis Planner

Council is seeking recent graduates or students enrolled in a land use planning course or related field to join the City Strategic Planning Group to assist with a diverse work program in the Strategic Land Use Planning team.


The position is to undertake research and development required to underpin Strategic Plans and Policies as well as to process minor Development Control Plans (DCP) and Local Environmental Plans (LEP) amendments primarily via managing the public consultation process involved in amending these plans. The position will also involve working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in preparation of maps and other GIS data; therefore a working knowledge of GIS systems, such as MapInfo will be required.


The position requires both written and verbal advice be provided to the public on planning matters, and undertake administrative duties associated with policies and procedures and other administrative duties such as preparation of meeting minutes as well as undertaking Planning Duty.

  • Full time permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight.
  • This position is a Grade 4 position with the salary range commencing at $62,826 p.a. with salary progression based on the applicant demonstrating proficiency in certain competencies and appropriate performance.
  • Flexible working hours are available.
