An opportunity exists for a driven and enthusiastic candidate to join Council's Facilities Department as a Recreation Officer.

The position will report to the Recreation Coordinator and, in this role, you will allocate and book the use of sportsgrounds and facilities, support the operations of and develop partnerships and networks with sports organisations and associations, enable the delivery of a range of sport and recreation projects, and contribute to the development and implementation of a range of policies, procedures and strategies.

  • Current Class C Driver Licence
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as recreation, community, sport, business administration, and/or relevant and practical experience in the sport, recreation or leisure industry
  • Strong communication skills including well developed customer service skills and managing public enquiries
  • Well-developed ability to lead, motivate and communicate with a broad range of internal and external groups and individuals
  • Capacity to work in a multi-project and multi-function environment
  • Ability to use initiative to resolve day to day work issues
  • Proven ability negotiate and interact on complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to use a range of software applications including MS Office and database management systems


  • Proven knowledge and practical experience of sport, recreation, parks and/or reserve operations
  • An understanding of the structure and functions of sport and recreation clubs and Associations developed through practical experience
  • An understanding of facilities' booking processes and experience in dealing with bookings and/or allocating space
  • Experience conducting community meetings and consultations
  • Demonstrated project management experience

Commencing Salary: $62,900 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation. Further Salary Progression is available through Council's Salary Administration System.
