Manager – Governance

Covering some 40.6 sq kms in the central northern part of the Sydney Metropolitan area, the City of Ryde is a diverse collection of natural landscapes, beautiful parks, scenic waterways and areas of historical significance. Reporting to the Group Manager Corporate Services, the Manager Governance is responsible for the following accountabilities:

* Ensure that the City of Ryde is fully compliant with all legislative requirements by developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate structures and systems.
* Review, develop and enhance the City of Ryde’s Governance framework by liaising with key staff and undertaking a gap analysis in identifying areas to be addressed in establishing a comprehensive program for implementation for submission to the Executive Team for approval.
* Develop and implement key governance strategies, in consultation with the Executive Team that align with Council’s Strategic Planning framework.
* Provide a quality meeting support service for all Council, Committee and Advisory Committee meetings. This to include the coordination of agendas, minute taking support for all meetings and follow up actions on resolutions/actions from meetings

The successful applicant will have relevant Tertiary qualifications coupled with extensive administration and governance experience at a senior level. Demonstrated high-level skills in change management and workplace reform are also key criteria as is a comprehensive knowledge of legislative framework applying to Local Government in NSW. Applicants will need to be sensitive to political and social issues and must be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and comfortably with a diverse range of stakeholders.
